Colin Hubbell was a great Detroit champion and a really awesome landlord-slash-roommate-slash-friend. He gave Bureau of Urban Living its start in his space on the ground floor of the Canfield Lofts. We were roomies there for awhile -- the shop in the front, his desk in the back -- and he would come by to chat in between meetings in the neighborhood. When Colin lost his fight to cancer in 2008, his wife Trish and several friends established a Memorial Fund with the UCCA to continue his good work. I was honored to serve on the Advisory Board and design the website, emails & flyers for the annual fundraiser at The Majestic and city bike ride organized by his brother, Bruce.
