First Thursdays

In Bureau's early days, every First Thursday of the month we would offer extended hours and donate a percentage of sales to benefit the public realm. When the economy turned we had to cut back on our charitable donations, so we sadly stopped doing them. But it was one of my favorite things about having the shop, and our customers helped us raise lots of money for all kinds of awesome local non-profits. Among them, Greening of Detroit, Transportation Riders United, Cityscape Detroit, Detroiters Working for Environmental Justice, Old Tiger Stadium Conservancy, Friends of the Belle Isle Aquarium, Michigan Trails & Greenways Alliance, Grandmont Rosedale Farmers Market and Colin Hubbell Memorial Fund.
Even though they ended up closing the Aquarium and demolishing Tiger Stadium, this still makes me smile. Oh, and these were printed before I updated the logo to be a little bit more readable.
